Data services

Combining data and expertise to facilitate research innovations that improve outcomes for people living with IBD

Our network of expertise

We are able to offer brokered relationships to facilitate additional data services to support researchers in realising their research innovations.

Cohort discovery tool

In order to help determine study feasibility, we are currently developing a cohort discovery tool able to offer cohort construction and query prior to applying for data access. This tool, which uses i2b2/tranSMART, will allow researchers to determine how many records might satisfy a particular set of conditions prior to application, and without accessing the underlying record level data.

Genetic analysis

Our partner organisation, the Wellcome Sanger Institute, is providing the data generated from whole genome and exome sequencing (WGS and WES) of participant DNA samples. The Wellcome Sanger Institute has world-leading experience in IBD genetics studies and is willing to undertake exploratory analyses with industry partners and share results. We are happy to broker initial conversations for any interested parties.

Data analytics

In addition to our internal expertise, Gut Reaction has a wide network of professional contacts. We can broker relationships between interested parties offering capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, natural language processing (NLP) and broader data science and analysis.

Recall studies

Patients may be recalled for clinical trials and other experimental medicine studies through the NIHR BioResource. Targeted recruitment can be undertaken based on genetic and phenotypic traits identified across multiple datasets from different sources.
