IBD Datasets Available

Gut Reaction holds high quality, consented health data from patients participating in the IBD BioResource, which can be linked to a variety of complementary data sets from participating NHS trusts, NHS digital, Wellcome Sanger Institute, and the IBD Registry

Gut Reaction facilitates access to a wide-range of consented health data to support research into IBD, and is constantly evolving to support the needs of researchers

Gut Reaction can provide researchers access to a wide variety of high quality, consented IBD datasets from patients participating in the NIHR IBD BioResource, which can be linked to a variety of complementary datasets from participating NHS trusts, NHS digital, Wellcome Sanger Institute, and the IBD Registry.

Detailed information about Gut Reaction data sources and interlinkages are available and can be found using the links below:

Researchers can apply to access datasets including (but not limited to) demographics, health and lifestyle information, genetics, prescribing and diagnostics to support research and innovation to improve the lives of people living with IBD.  The diagram below outlines some of the IBD datasets available through Gut Reaction and their sources.

The UK IBD Registry has longitudinal clinical data on patients with IBD, including diagnosis, that is collected at point of care from NHS Trusts across the UK. These data are held within the IBD Registry’s own secure data platform and can be accessed via application to the IBD Registry or the HDR UK Innovation Gateway.

Detailed and up-to-date descriptions of Gut Reaction datasets can also be found in the Gut Reaction collection on the HDR UK Innovation Gateway.

Researchers can also work with us to discover cohorts in finer detail before a data access request is made.  The cohort discovery tool will allow researchers to determine how many records might satisfy a particular set of conditions prior to application, and without accessing the underlying record level data.
