Gut Reaction Patient and Public Review Group

Applications sought to join a public review group to oversee Gut Reaction data applications

Gut Reaction, working with Crohn’s & Colitis UK and NIHR BioResource, are looking for people to be part of a new Patient and Public Review Group.

We are looking for people affected by Crohn’s or Colitis and lay members to join our new Patient and Public Review Group (PPRG). You do not need any similar experience, just an interest in health data research. The group will work best when a range of individuals and experiences are represented.

The Gut Reaction PPRG will consider applications to access Gut Reaction data. Applications are submitted through the NIHR BioResource, and considered by the Patient and Public Review Group before progressing to existing NIHR BioResource committees for a final decision. No data will be released for research until it has been approved through this process. The Patient and Public Review Group will help to ensure that the Gut Reaction project is centred around the views and needs of people with Crohn’s and Colitis and is ultimately driven by delivering benefits to people with Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

What does the role require?

Group members will be invited to attend meetings every 2 weeks to discuss applications to access Gut reaction data. We understand that you may not always be able to attend and offer flexibility with this. You do not need to have been on a similar group before, all applications are welcome. We value diversity and champion inclusion and strongly encourage applications from all section of the community.

We are looking for 10 group members in total. This will include 6 people affected by IBD e.g., a diagnosis of IBD, family/carer and 4 members of the public. We are also looking for 2 additional people to chair the group on rotation.

If you are interested and would like more information about this opportunity, please see the role descriptions for the chair and the group member roles. The deadline for applications is 9am on 28th February 2022.

If you have any questions, please email the Crohn’s & Colitis UK Research Team.
